A Load cell is a device that
converts one form of energy into another and is mainly used to generate an
electrical signal, the magnitude of which is directly related to the force
being measured. Generally, weighing sensors are one of the easiest and most
accurate tools for measuring force.

The most
popular form of load cell is an analog cell that measures stress and weight
load. These strain gage load cells are attached to the spring element of the
load and this will bend when weight is placed on it. The strain gauge then
causes the resistors to stretch and their resistance is changed. This
resistance is then converted into voltage, which is sent to the scale via
cables to give the engineer an accurate real-time measurement.
